CHECKING HAND TOOLS AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Before selecting and using a tool, it is essential to check the physical condition, usability and safety on the use of the tool. Knowing the appropriate way of using the tool will give the user a successful, safe and accurate output. Safety tips before using a screwdriver:
1. Keep the screwdriver’s handle clean. A greasy handle could cause an injury or damage from unexpected slippage.
2. Check if the tip of the Philips screwdriver’s magnetic point is working well.
3. Make sure that the handle or head is not damage to prevent further injury.
4. Ensure that the tip is not damaged or deformed for it to fit correctly on the desired screw head.
Safety tips before using a wire cutter:
1. Ensure that the blades are sharp.
2. Check if the locks in between the blades are intact.
3. Make sure that the handle is not damaged to prevent injury.
4. Check if the tool is not rusted and oily.
Safety tips before using part retriever and tweezers:
1. Check if it is oil and dirt free.
2. Make sure that it is not deformed or damaged.
How to determine the defective and non-defective tool? Visual Inspection – The defective and non-defective tools are easily identified through visual inspection. Defective and non-defective tools are described by its physical appearance such as dullness, sharpness, dismantled parts and more. Functionality – Another way to determine the defective and non-defective tools is by checking or assessing if the tool is already susceptible to wear and tear or does it exceed to its service life already.
