Women's Month
On March 22, 2024, MLG College of Learning, Inc. in Hilongos, Leyte, was filled with inspiration and empowerment as we celebrated the culmination of Women’s Month. The event showcased the talent, dedication, and commitment of individuals who strive for gender equality and women’s empowerment in our community.
The event began with a heartfelt welcome from our Emcee, Ms. Maria Conception Cordova, who is a specialized teacher in the High School department. Her warm introduction set the tone for a day filled with meaningful activities.
Following the welcome, Mrs. Elra Jane R. Abasola (Student Welfare Services – Coordinator) delivered opening remarks that set a tone of celebration and recognition for the achievements of women.
Mr. Marlon Hapon, a BEED 1st Year student, delivered a captivating Spoken Poetry performance at the event. His performance was heartfelt and focused on highlighting the strength and resilience of women in our society. It resonated with the audience and added depth to the event’s message of empowerment and recognition of women’s contributions.
A pivotal moment of the event was the talk on women’s empowerment by Ms. Pamella Anne Retulla and Ms. Rhe Anne M. Zarate from MSWDO LGU Hilongos. They delved into the importance of finding one’s voice, particularly in the context of Republic Act No. 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004. This law serves as a beacon of protection and support for victims of violence and abuse, empowering women to stand up for their rights.
The event further showcased the talent and harmony of the students through a mesmerizing Duet performance by Ms. Natasha Louise Bisnar and Ms. Maricel Viterbo, both first-year BEED students. Their performance was captivating, highlighting not only their individual skills but also their ability to work together in harmony. The duet added a layer of artistry and musicality to the event, leaving the audience impressed and engaged throughout their performance.
A highlight of the event was the awarding ceremony, where the winners of the Palanca: Message of Hope and Word Search were honored. Mrs. Elra Jane R. Abasola and Erlinda A. Lina, EdD (Highschool Principal), presented the awards to deserving students who excelled in creativity and skill.

This recognition was a way of acknowledging and honoring their invaluable contribution to the event. Their talks on women’s empowerment and finding one’s voice, related to R.A No. 9262, were insightful and inspiring, contributing significantly to the overall theme and message of the event. The certificates served as a token of appreciation for their dedication and meaningful participation in the occasion.
The event was elevated to a new level of excitement and energy with an energetic dance performance by the “Tanglaw Organization Dancers.” This group of talented dancers from our student community brought vibrancy and dynamism to the stage, captivating the audience with their skillful choreography and spirited performance.
